This place has been used as a military fortress for a long time since the Japanese occupation. It was announced as an amusement park by the Ministry of Construction and Transport in 1967, and then designated as a tourist attraction in 1969, and designated as National Designated Cultural Property No. 17 on November 1, 2005. On December 6, 2013, it was recognized as a National Geopark.
What is a Geopark?
The Geopark is one of the three natural environment conservation systems designated by UNESCO [World Heritage, Biosphere Reserve, and Geopark]. In addition to preserving areas with ecological, historical, and cultural values in conjunction with heritage, it is also used for research and education, and geotourism (Geotourism: tourism using natural topography and geological heritage) is a target for this. The purpose is to utilize it for the sustainable development of the region.
The Taejongdae was created at the end of the Cretaceous period when sedimentary deposits accumulated in the lake were eroded by waves due to rising sea levels, and Busan is famous for its rocky coasts such as sea erosion, sea erosion, and coastal caves. It is a representative coastal scenic area.
